Scholars bow out national cup

Our U19 Scholarship Squad 1 bowed out the national cup losing to a late controversial winner against a very strong Whitstable Town academy side.

Whitstable opened the scoring early through a penalty dispatched sending Charlie Cosser the wrong way. EMC bounced back in the second half, with a spirited performance, with Tristan Azvedo firing a 30 yard finish into the top corner to level the game with 15 minutes remaining. With 10 minutes to go Whitstable were awarded a controversial goal, which unfortunately our squad 1 never recovered from and subsequently ended our national cup journey for another year.

Academy coach Teddy Bloor had this to say on the result: 'We are absoloutely gutted to go out of this prestigious competition in such fashion, especially having last season's competition cancelled due to covid. The boys gave us everything today, and we are extremely proud of how they reacted to such adversity. We have no time to feel sorry for ourselves with a tough fixture against Soccer Elite coming up next week which we will be looking to bounce back in.'
