Squad 2 took on top of the league, Elite Coaching on a miserable Friday morning. The game started in familiar EMC fashion, great ball retention and high pressing. A couple of chances fell to both sides early bells but it was the lads who got the break through mid way through the first half. Then, a cut back from Oyediran saw the ball fall for Mayo in the box who beautifully dummied for Reynolds to cooly slot the ball past the oncoming keeper to get his first goal for the scholars this season!

The boys dominated until the whistle went and we left the field 1-0 up at half time.

An action packed second half was to come, only after the game was postponed within the first 5 for 20 minutes due to horrendous weather conditions.

The home side came back out firing and caught us lacking at the back when the ball bounced kindly for the opposition winger who stuck the ball top corner.

It was a fairly end to end game from then on in but heartbreak hit as, with the last kick of the game, the ball fell to the central midfielder who curled the ball in off the crossbar to win the game.

A valiant effort from our lads but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be.
