EMC Scholars squad 1 away match

EMC scholars squad 1 made the trip down to Whitstable on Wednesday 29th March to face a side who had not picked up a point in their last 3 games. The game started out really sloppy from both sides, constantly giving the ball to each other and severe attacks breaking down. It wasn’t until the 25th minute that a clear cut chance opened up. Ellen slipped in down the left flank by Chakarov only to see his tame effort stopped by the homeside's goalkeeper. There were a couple more chances for the boys and a few half chances for the hosts but overall a fairly disappointing half from both sides.

The second half began in the same manner… sloppy passes, over hit balls and half chances leading to nothing. That was, until the 75th minute hit and the left sided player for Whitstable looped a ball into the box, surprising everyone as it fell short of the crossbar and landed in the back of the net. 1-0 hosts!

Time ticked on and the theme of the game stayed as the boys still couldn’t get going.

However, one last chance presented itself as on 92 minutes we got a corner, everyone up, Mepham in the sticks made the 100 yard dash to try and salvage a point. However, it simply wasn’t to be as the short corner fell loose on the edge to the lively Whitstable striker who powered his way through last man, Kapfudzaruwa to cooly slot into an open goal leaving the game out of sight.

Final score 2-0 Whitstable FC, a victory deserved from a lacklustre Scholars performance who are in desperate need of a reaction next time out
