Tandridge Spring Cup Winners!

Tandridge Spring Cup Winners 🏆

Last Sunday, saw the u11 Tandridge side compete against Balham for the chance to be crowned Spring Cup winners.

In what was an extremely entertaining end to end game, the boys started the scoreboard off in fine fashion as Watmore broke down the left hand side finding Coleman who slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 1-0.

Shortly after, the Balham defender played a long ball over the top and the striker ran through to power past Pett to level the score.

Straight away, a carbon copy of our first goal happened as Watmore’s pace earned himself some space in behind, as he tapped past the Balham keeper, crossed in the ball for MOTM Heath to volley home.

Under a-bit of pressure, the Balham forward took a shot from the edge of the box, hitting the hand of Johnson on the way through meaning penalty to Balham to tie the game just before the half.

But hero Pett, saved the day with a fantastic dive to his right to tip the penalty past the post.

Half time ended with EMC leading 2-1. The information given to the boys was ‘keep the ball and wait for the opposition to tire’ The boys executed this perfectly and stuck to the game plan.

The second half followed similar suit as the first, as the game was end to end. We extended our lead 10 minutes in from a corner routine which worked beautifully when it found the head of captain Chapman to nod home, 3-1.

Getting into the last couple of minutes it was all out defence as Balham piled on the pressure and got their reward after a miss kicked clearance ended up at the feet of the Balham midfielder who smashed it in.

But it was too late for the opposition as the ref blew his whistle and the boys were crowned cup winners in the sun. A great afternoon for the boys who over the course of the season, earned their reward.
