Coaches catch up on lockdown life

Find out what our coaches have been up to during lockdown. Today's interview is with Henry.

What have you been up to during this lockdown?

I have done lots of zoom sessions with different age groups to keep our players active and continue to improve their all round game. I have also been able to work with the players on a 1-2-1 basis over zoom. 1-2-1 sessions have been so important to our players and I have seen a massive improvement in those doing them throughout lockdown. It’s been important to keep myself fit during lockdown; I have been able to get fitter, faster and stronger.

Whitehawk FC

Myself and my team mates do a HIIT session every Tuesday and Thursday evening to keep ourselves ticking over and ready, for when competitive football continues. When we are back playing, I highly recommend coming to watch Whitehawk. We play a great style of football, have extremely talented players and the fans are the best in non league football!

England 6s

We are back at training from the 4th April where we will begin to prepare for our next big Tournament. We have a new training venue at Bromley FC and I can’t wait to get started again. I’m absolutely buzzing to see all the players and coaches, as I haven’t seen some of them since the World Cup in Crete.

Watching Football

We have been very lucky with lots of football on the TV over lockdown and I’ve barely missed a Premier League game. I have watched Manchester City rise to the top, and I absolutely love the way Pep has his side playing. I’m a Chelsea fan, and although I was gutted when Lampard got sacked, I think we are a better team without him. Tomas Tuchel has come in and I believe he will do very well at Chelsea.

The best thing you have seen from one of our players this lockdown:

All of our players have been amazing during lockdown and we have seen massive improvements.

One player I think has really focused on his football during lockdown, is Enzo. He is our February skills champion. He would send in his videos everyday and if he wasn’t happy with his skill or the amount of times he could do it, I would then receive another video later on showing me his improvements. He’s also asked me if there’s anything he can improve on during lockdown and without fail, he’s out practiced every day.

Well done mate 👍🏻

Best piece of lockdown advice I can give to our players?

‘You only fail if you don’t learn from it. Treat every failure as an opportunity to improve’.
